SAFER: Denying Patient Requests Based on Gender, Race, Age, and Other Personal Characteristics

In achieving Mayo Clinic’s goals of providing a safe, inclusive environment for all, while also providing the best care to patients at all times, requests from patients or visitors for a specific gender, race, religion, sexual orientation or other personal attribute of a staff member must not be granted except in certain limited circumstances. Hear from experts about policy exceptions and how to respond when patients or visitors make requests for particular care team members based on personal characteristics.
