Learning Objectives
At the conclusion of this activity, the participants should be able to:

  • Describe the basics of LVAD technology and patient management
  • Describe program changes and JCAHO performance measures
  • Discuss Palliative Medicines considerations regarding LVAD patients

Bio:
Jeff worked as an RN for 22 years, primarily in the Cardiac O.R. and in O.R. Management.  He then pursued a second career as Perfusionist, getting a Masters of Cardiovascular Science in 2003. He worked as a Clinical Perfusionist for 6 years and for the last 16 years has occupied the Cardiac Device Specialist position at Mayo Clinic Hospital. He serves as a technical expert / trainer in Mechanical Circulatory Support; responsible for staff, community, and patient / caregiver training.
