DESCRIPTION
To provide ongoing education through lecture and collaborative learning appropriate for a certified athletic trainer that provides outreach sports medicine coverage for Mayo Clinic Sports Medicine- Rochester. This will include anatomy review, evaluation/ assessment review, and injury management review. This will also include development of communication skills and collaborative interactive learning.

TARGET AUDIENCE
Outreach Athletic Trainers, others with an interest or connection to athletic training are also welcome.

LEARNING OBJECTIVES
Upon conclusion of this program, participants should be able to:

  • Recognize the importance of communication within the team approach to healthcare (Domain 3, Task: 0301 & Domain 5, Task: 0502
  • Distinguish between close and active listening to promote open communication (Domain 5, Task: 0504)
  • Analyze the basics of accessing clinical information (Domain 2, Task: 0201 & Domain 5, Task: 0501
  • Summarize opportunities for personal growth and education available in regards to over communication (Domain 5, Task: 0501)
