Chronic pain is one of the most common reasons adults seek medical care, and typically requires a multifactorial approach to management, especially given that chronic pain results from a combination of biological, psychological, and social factors. Due to its adverse impact on quality of life, daily activities, functioning, relationships, employment, and mood, chronic pain is one of the most widely studied medical conditions in the psychological literature. Dr. Priorello plans to review her research on MCA Psychology’s Pain Management Group, outlining the outcomes, preliminary results, and effectiveness of the pain group over nine cohorts. She will also review future directions and outline a new single-session pain psychology group intervention (“Empowered Relief”) that will be offered at MCA soon.
