Dr. Patel is a second-year neuropsychology fellow who completed his doctoral degree in clinical health psychology at Indiana University Purdue University Indianapolis and his internship in the neuropsychology track at Rush University Medical Center in Chicago. In terms of research, he is interested in measurement development and implementation.

Clinical and Biological Differences in Catatonia Associated to a Medical Condition and to a Psychiatric Disorder: Distinctive Phenotypes of Catatonia
Laura Duque Serrano, M.D.
INTRODUCTION
Dr. Laura Duque is a fourth-year psychiatry resident at Mayo Clinic. She is a medical graduate of Universidad de los Andes in Bogotá, Colombia. After graduating from medical school, she became a research fellow in the Cardiac Psychiatry Research Program and the Benson-Henry Institute at Massachusetts General Hospital. Her clinical and research interests include catatonia, functional neurological disorders, psycho-oncology, and mind-body medicine. She will begin Consultation-Liaison psychiatry fellowship at Brigham and Women's Hospital in July.
LEARNING OBJECTIVES
Upon conclusion of this activity, participants should be able to:
- Recognize the clinical characteristics of catatonia and its various associated conditions.
- Examine the pathophysiology of catatonia from a functional neuroimaging perspective.
- Formulate two different phenotypes of catatonia and provide preliminary results from the Mayo Clinic catatonia cohort.
