Anne Roche, M.D.

INTRODUCTION

Dr. Annie Roche is a second-year clinical health psychology fellow working primarily under the supervision of Dr. Craig Sawchuk in the Division of Integrated Behavioral Health. She earned her PhD from the University of Iowa and completed her clinical internship at the University of Kansas Medical Center. Dr. Roche’s clinical and research interests include primary care behavioral therapy, acceptance- and mindfulness-based interventions, and understanding best practices to increase equitable access to behavioral healthcare.

Upon conclusion of this activity, participants should be able to:

  • Describe the overarching goals of Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT).
  • Summarize the evidence base for application of Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) in primary care.

Thinking in Moments: Reimagining the Patient Experience

Sam Nayman, M.D.

INTRODUCTION

Dr. Samuel J. Nayman, Ph.D., is a clinical child/pediatric psychology post-doctoral fellow in the Mayo Clinic Medical Psychology Fellowship Program.  Dr. Nayman works at the intersection of research and practice, promoting patient health, wellness, and resilience by way of program development, implementation, evaluation, and dissemination. Previously, he completed his doctorate in clinical psychology at Rutgers University as well as his clinical psychology internship at Yale School of Medicine.  

LEARNING OBJECTIVES

Upon conclusion of this activity, participants should be able to:

  • Describe why it is relevant to create meaningful and memorable patient experiences.
  • Identify when and how to create meaningful and memorable patient experiences.
