Suliman EL-Amin, M.D.

Introduction:

Suliman EL-Amin, M.D., M.S. is an Assistant Clinical Professor of Psychiatry at the University of Massachusetts T.H. Chan School of Medicine and serves as Chief of Psychiatry at UMass Memorial Health - Marlborough Hospital. His research interests include medical humanities, bipolar disorder, and health disparities in psychiatry. Outside of clinical practice, Dr. EL-Amin is an accomplished visual artist with works that have been featured as cover art for several medical journals, in national publications, and showcased in museums around the country. 

Learning Objectives:

  • Describe existing efforts to incorporate the medical humanities within psychiatric education.
  • Identify strategies for practical application of the visual and literary arts in psychiatry among faculty and clinical teams.
  • Identify methods for framing personal narratives, clinical experiences, and artistic expression in psychiatry in publications.
