Dr. Nathan Smith Pharm.D., R.Ph.
PRESENTER BIO
Dr. Smith is a pain management pharmacist with the inpatient pain service and pain rehabilitation center at Mayo Clinic. He earned his Doctorate of Pharmacy from South Dakota State University, and completed residency training at Mayo Clinic in Florida. Following residency he worked as a clinical pharmacist in the postoperative acute care setting at Mayo Clinic Methodist Hospital in Rochester, where he has served as an advocate for increased pharmacist involvement in pain management among hospitalized patients. His primary clinical interests include pain management and opioid stewardship, and he has engaged in numerous quality improvement and research projects in these areas. Through his work, Dr. Smith has developed a specific interest in skeletal muscle relaxants and the judicial use of these medications.
