Mayo Clinic's 25th Edition “Teach the Teachers” Advanced Elbow Surgical Skills Course Forge the Future: Trauma is an advanced level course designed for orthopedic surgeons with a special interest in upper extremity trauma, elbow surgery and trauma surgery. The course provides technical skills orientation, with the didactic portions limited to the necessary introductions and theoretical knowledge required for the technical components. Live surgical broadcasts used during lecture sessions will demonstrate surgical techniques pertaining to this year's topic of elbow trauma as well as other areas of elbow orthopedics.
Helping us to ‘Forge the Future’ will be our special guest and world-renowned teacher of elbow trauma surgery, Daphne M. Beingessner, M.D. from Harborview Medical Center.

Target Audience
This live and livestream course is open to physicians, residents, fellows, physician assistants and physical therapists interested in advanced elbow surgery.
Learning Objectives
Upon completion of this activity, participants should be able to:
- Describe how to fix "unstable" fractures such as a smashed distal humerus, unstable comminuted olecranon fracture subluxations, and fracture-dislocations associated with coronoid and radial head fractures.
- Recognize specific the sequelae of fractures around the elbow, including nonunions, malunions and arthritis as they pertain to the coronoid, radial head, and capitellum.
- Apply the indications for surgery in fractures and fracture-dislocations.
- Utilize the optimal surgical approaches, including osteotomies for the treatment of the injuries referred to above.
