This episode explores how exercise can help preserve function, independence, and health span as we age. Dr. Edward Laskowski, a specialist in physical medicine and rehabilitation, shares practical strategies for incorporating movement into daily life and highlights the most effective types of exercise for healthy aging.
Strong Bones, Strong Lives: Osteoporosis (32 minutes)
In this episode, Dr. Christina Chen speaks with endocrinologist and geriatrician, Dr. Jad Sfeir about osteoporosis, including its risks, causes, and how it affects bone integrity over time. Together, they explore prevention strategies and the importance of a multidisciplinary approach to maintaining strong bones and reducing fracture risk as we age.

- Christina Chen, MD: Christina Chen, M.D., is a geriatrician in the division of Community Internal Medicine, Geriatrics and Palliative Care at Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota. She is the host of the Mayo Clinic podcast, “Aging Forward.”
- Edward Laskowski, MD: Dr. Laskowski is a specialist in physical medicine and rehabilitation with a subspecialty certification in sports medicine at Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota.
- Jad Sfeir, MD, MS: Dr. Sfeir is an Assistant Professor of Medicine at the Mayo Clinic College of Medicine and Science in Rochester, Minnesota where he holds a dual appointment in the Division of Endocrinology, Diabetes, Metabolism and Nutrition and the Division of Geriatric Medicine and Gerontology in the Department of Medicine.
