Advanced Critical Care Nursing Online CNE Course: Endocrine Management

In the ICU setting, we see many endocrine issues. This module focuses on endocrine issues that acutely endanger human life. For many of these imbalances, the nurse plays a key role in shifting fluid in a slow and controlled fashion and is central in preventing major complications and even death. 

Target Audience

This course is designed for nurses working in intensive care units.

Learning Objectives

Upon completion of this activity, participants should be able to: 

  • Recall the normal basic physiology of the endocrine glands
  • Identify factors that disrupt the endocrine system
  • Identify endocrine complications and basic management principles
  • Verbalize why it is important to shift fluids around in the human body in a slow, controlled manner
