Biography:
Dr. Wasif is currently a Professor of Surgery and Division Chief of Surgical Oncology and Endocrine Surgery in the Department of Surgery at Mayo Clinic Arizona. He joined his current institution following completion of his Fellowship in Surgical Oncology from the John Wayne Cancer Institute in Los Angeles. Prior to this his General Surgery training was at the New-York Presbyterian Hospital. He has an established GI oncology surgical practice, including pioneering the use of HIPEC at his institution, which is now a three-state referral center for patients with advanced malignancies. He has served as Program Director for the general surgery residency program and is now the Vice Chair of Education. Dr. Wasif has a Master of Public Health in quantitative methods from the Harvard School of Public Health. His research focuses on cancer health care delivery and comparative effectiveness of therapies. To date he has over 100 publications, several book chapters, and is actively involved in multi-center trials.
