Objectives:

At the conclusion of this activity, the learner should be able to:

  1. Summarize current technology used for mechanical circulatory support at MCH.
  2. Review the current status of the VAD Program at MCH.
  3. Describe the typical progression of life with an LVAD for destination therapy.

 

Bio:

The presenter joined Mayo Clinic in 1998 as an RN and was the Operating Room Supervisor when the hospital opened. In 2003 he graduated from Midwestern University with a Master’s Degree in Cardiovascular Science and began a career as a Certified Clinical Perfusionist. After briefly working in the Bay Area, he returned to MCH in 2005 to work as a staff Perfusionist till 2009 when the need for a dedicated trainer for mechanical circulatory support was identified, and the position of Cardiac Device Specialist was created. Jeff has occupied this position since it’s inception, providing staff, patient/caregiver, and community training in support of Nursing, Allied Health, and the CT Surgery practice.
