Title:   Treatment of the First Seizure in Adults

Learning Objectives:    Upon conclusion of this activity, participants should be able to:

  • Understand the risks of recurrent seizures in the adult with 1 or 2 unprovoked seizures
  • Recognize the impact of early versus delayed treatment with an anti-seizure drug on the subsequent trajectory of epilepsy, including overall quality of life
  • Incorporate patient preferences and values into decisions on medical treatment of the first unprovoked seizure
