Learning Objectives
Upon conclusion of this activity, participants will be able to:
- Recognize the complexities of resuming anticoagulation in patients with mechanical heart valves who have experienced an intracranial hemorrhage.
 - Identify the risks of ischemic strokes associated with withholding anticoagulation against the risk of hemorrhagic expansion when reinitiating anticoagulation therapy in this population.
 - Summarize the risks associated with heparin bridging during the process of anticoagulation resumption.
