Learning objectives: 
Upon conclusion of this activity, participants will be able to:

  • Identify role and utilization of contrast media in clinical practice.
  • Recognize risk factors for and adverse events associated with contrast administration and appropriate risk mitigation strategies.
  • Review recent changes in recommendations for GBCA use among patients with renal impairment.
  • Summarize existing and emerging data on prophylaxis of allergic-like reactions to contrast media.
  • Review recommendations regarding use of GBCA agents in pregnant women.
  • Summarize existing and emerging data on gadolinium tissue deposition and the clinical significance of this phenomenon.
