LEARNING OBJECTIVES
Upon conclusion of this activity, participants should be able to:

  • Describe the role that decision-making has in effecting patient outcomes
  • Describe challenges and techniques in patient counseling and education
  • Describe the mechanism of action and the role of immune checkpoint inhibitors (ICI) in the treatment of cancer
  • Describe the immune-related adverse events that can occur with these therapies
  • Describe the appropriate preop and postop management of patients undergoing surgery who have had ICI treatment
