Infectious Diseases Practice Updates 2024 - Livestream (virtual)

This interactive course provides practical updates on common topics and challenges faced with infectious diseases and key information on the application of new developments in the field. Information is delivered by subject matter experts using case-based presentations and in-depth discussions including question and answer sessions geared to increase knowledge, performance, and patient outcomes. Attendees leave with up-to-date, practical information that can be applied immediately to their clinical practice.
The 2024 course focuses on critically ill patients, primary immune deficiencies, mycobacterial diseases (tubercular and non-tubercular), infection prevention and control, and gastrointestinal, transplant, orthopedic, and travel/tropical infections. The course also includes a review of recent important practice-impacting papers.
Target Audience
This course is relevant for infectious diseases specialists, infectious diseases trainees, internists, pharmacists, hospitalists, and clinical infectious diseases researchers. The content also benefits physician assistants, nurse practitioners, nurses, family physicians and clinical microbiologists with interest in managing patients with infections.
Learning Objectives
Upon completion of this activity, participants should be able to:
- Identify methods to diagnose and manage patients with primary immunodeficiencies
- Review the diagnosis and management of gastrointestinal infections, including C. difficile infection
- Identify principles of diagnosis and management of mycobacterial infections
- Describe new management strategies in critically ill patients
- Recall advances in the diagnosis and management of transplant, travel, and tropical medicine infections
- Define diagnosis and management strategies of native and hardware-associated vertebral osteomyelitis
