Hospital medicine is a rapidly growing specialty that requires continuous learning. This program provides essential updates on diagnosing and managing complex conditions, overseeing transitions of care, optimizing perioperative management, and contributing to hospital-wide quality improvement. Participants gain insights into current trends to enhance expertise in hospital-based care.

Target Audience
This course is designed for inpatient care providers, including physicians, advanced practice providers, residents, and fellows. It is particularly relevant for those in internal medicine, family practice, and other specialties involved in the care of hospitalized patients.
Learning Objectives
Upon completion of this activity, participants should be able to:
- Identify effective strategies for managing inpatient hypertension based on current clinical guidelines
- Analyze advancements in coronary artery disease management
- Apply updated diagnostic and treatment protocols for acute pulmonary embolism
- Evaluate recent research and emerging treatments for chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD)
- Formulate a structured approach to evaluating medically unexplained symptoms in hospitalized patients
- Develop a comprehensive strategy for diagnosing and managing acute pancreatitis
- Assess optimal opioid prescribing practices for acute pain
- Review key practice-changing research papers from the past year
- Examine best practices for diagnosing and treating orthopedic infections
- Distinguish the various causes of acute liver injury in hospitalized patients

Daily Resort Fee ($25):
The daily resort fee of $25 is discounted at a rate of $50 per room per night for all attendees staying at the resort. The fee includes the following:

- Tennis court time and equipment usage at The Phoenician Athletic Club; reservations required (one hour, daily)

- Outdoor morning yoga class at The Phoenician Spa (daily)

Mayo Clinic College of Medicine and Science has been authorized by the American Academy of Physician Associates (AAPA) to award AAPA Category 1 CME credit for activities planned in accordance with AAPA CME Criteria. This activity is designated for 18.50 AAPA Category 1 CME credits. PAs should only claim credit commensurate with the extent of their participation.
AOA
The American Osteopathic Association designates this program for a maximum of 18.50 AOA Category 2-A credits.
American Board of Internal Medicine (ABIM)
Successful completion of this CME activity, which includes participation in the evaluation component, enables the participant to earn up to 18.50 MOC points in the American Board of Internal Medicine’s (ABIM) Maintenance of Certification (MOC) program. It is the CME activity provider’s responsibility to submit participant completion information to ACCME for the purpose of granting ABIM MOC credit.
American Board of Surgery (ABS)
Successful completion of this CME activity enables the learner to earn credit toward the CME requirement of the American Board of Surgery’s Continuous Certification program. It is the CME activity provider's responsibility to submit learner completion information to ACCME for the purpose of granting ABS credit.
Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada
Through an agreement between the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education and the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada, medical practitioners participating in the Royal College MOC Program may record completion of accredited activities registered under the ACCME’s “CME in Support of MOC” program in Section 3 of the Royal College’s MOC Program.
