LEARNING OBJECTIVES
Upon completion of this activity, participants should be able to:

  1. Describe the prevalence and nature of bias in narrative assessment, as well as its effects on opportunities and career trajectory
  2. Detect examples of biased language in sample narrative evaluations, and revise those evaluations to be less biased
  3. Recognize and appraise one’s own implicit biases as they pertain to medical education, and ways to mitigate them
  4. Apply data on bias in narrative assessment to their own experiences assessing and writing about learners
