DESCRIPTION
This is a weekly conference, which includes lectures from consultant surgeons, fellows, residents, and visiting physicians; an audit of patients receiving care within the department of surgery; and a review of morbidity and mortality with thorough round-table discussions and debate. This didactic course provides physicians, fellows, residents, and mid-level providers with current knowledge on new and innovative techniques and technology in surgery. Overall goal is to improve patient care and outcomes. 

TARGET AUDIENCE
This course is intended primarily for internal physicians, fellows, residents, and mid-level providers.

LEARNING OBJECTIVES
Upon conclusion of this activity, participants should be able to:

  • Develop comprehensive knowledge of the controversies existing in general surgery 
  • Recognize the influence of image interpretation in the surgical decision making process
  • Demonstrate the need for standardized systems processes streamlining patient care pathways
  • Identify ways to collaborate with colleagues for multidisciplinary patient care
