Mayo Clinic Health System presents the third annual, Transforming Community and Rural Healthcare 2025: Bold Innovation and Partnerships CE course. This two-day symposium brings together multidisciplinary healthcare leaders, providers, administrators, researchers, and educators to discuss critical issues impacting the health of community and rural populations. The course includes interactive sessions enabling participants to directly apply new transformative approaches to community and rural health settings.
Call for Poster Abstracts, Workshops, and Podium Presentations
The Transforming Community and Rural Healthcare 2025 course directors and planning committee invites attendees to submit proposals for posters, workshops, and podium presentations to be included at the course this year, October 27-28, 2025. Submissions may include traditional research abstracts, community engaged solution projects, work group projects, and more. Applicants should provide a brief description of their work, including the theme and content.
Themes: Proposals should address one or more of the following course themes within the context of Community and Rural Healthcare:
- Access
- Artificial Intelligence and Automation
- Cancer Care
- Financial Stability
- Population Health
- Workforce
Eligibility: Submissions that either have or have not been presented at other meetings will be considered. Recently published material may be submitted for consideration.
Accepted posters, workshops, and podium presentations will be displayed/presented in-person; virtual sessions will not be available.
Poster Proposals: Submissions may include traditional research abstracts, community engaged solution projects, work group projects, and more. Applicants should provide a brief description of their work, including the theme and content.
Workshops and Podium Presentation Proposals:
Workshops are 30-minute interactive sessions during which presenters serve as facilitators leading dynamic and engaging conversations on a specific topic related to one of the symposium themes. Workshops must be largely comprised of interactive components such as table-top discussions, small group brainstorming, activity-based problem-solving, etc. Didactic components should be kept to no more than 10% of the allotted time. Workshops should facilitate collaborative learning of practical knowledge, skills, or strategies that participants can apply within their local contexts. Applicants should provide brief description of the workshop including theme, content, and interactive components. Please describe what participants will experience in the workshop and any “take-homes” that will be provided by facilitators or created by participants such as hand-outs, frameworks, tools, etc.
Podium presentations are approximately 30-minute lectures. Proposals should provide brief description of the presentation including theme and content. Please include 1-2 learning objectives.

- Submissions are limited to a maximum of 500 words.

This symposium is designed for allied health professionals, healthcare executives, general internists, nurse practitioners, nurses, physicians, physician assistants, professors, residents, students as well as, community health partners, university faculty, and non-profit and government employees.
Learning Objectives
Upon completion of this activity, participants should be able to:
- Recognize transformative approaches to address key healthcare challenges facing rural America
- Identify collaborative strategies and partnerships to sustain workforce and improve health outcomes in rural communities
- Assess innovative approaches to enhance rural health equity, cancer care, and behavioral health

Public Parking Information
When attending events at Mayo Civic Center, look for the Parking Logo which will direct you to available lots and ramps.
- The Civic Center Ramp is located on the west side of Civic Center Drive across the street from the center and is attached by a climate-controlled skyway.
- The Civic Center South Lot is located across the river from the Mayo Civic Center and offers an additional 240 parking spaces.
- Civic Center flat lot is North of the building. All-day parking is available for a fee - see Pay at Box for current rates.
Parking Meter Hours - Meters are enforced 8 AM to 5 PM Monday through Friday, except major holidays. Meters are not enforced after 5 PM on weekdays or on Saturdays or Sundays.
Accessible Parking - All Rochester public parking ramps have marked designated accessible parking spaces available. There are also a few designated spots under the skyway into the building on Civic Center Drive and on the Center Street bridge near Mayo Field. Vehicles with state issued disability plates or permits may park at city meters for up to 4 hours, with the exception of 30-minute meters. These vehicles are also eligible for a 50% discount when parked in a cashiered municipal ramp.
