DESCRIPTION
This case based RSS provides Mayo staff the opportunity to discuss challenging cases on a weekly basis. Thus providing the opportunity to improve patient outcomes through diverse discussions of patient management with a multidiscipliary audience.
TARGET AUDIENCE
This conference targets physicians, physician assistants, nurse practitioners, and nurses, as well as physicians in training, who have interest in the treatment of epilepsy patients.
LEARNING OBJECTIVES
Upon completion of this activity, participants should be able to:
- Demonstrate how to interpret epilepsy testing: EEG, NPSY, PET, MRI, and WADA and when surgical intervention is appropriate.
- Identify the importance of timely and a comprehensive approach to testing, interpreting, recommending and planning epilepsy treatment
- Assess multidisciplinary understanding and interpretation of testing and recommendations following surgical intervention
- Interpret the importance of continuation of care and follow the latest recommendations after surgical treatment
- Recognize the risk/benefit outcomes and be able to discuss with patient both before and after surgical treatment
