COURSE DIRECTOR

DESCRIPTION
This course is a traditional, live, case-based educational opportunity.  Attendees will be able to talk to and examine 1-5 or more patients.  Following this, attendees will meet in conference to engage in colloquy with Mayo staff and residents.  We invite attendees registered with our Grand Rounds to submit patients for presentation and discussion, and we provide a process for that presentation to take place.  Patient discussion includes review of histopathology and previously performed testing.  Open discussion follows related to diagnosis, additional testing, and therapeutic options.  Prior to the formal part of the Grand Rounds, there is commonly a 10-minute resident presentation on a subjective interest, or a question raised in previous Grand Rounds, often with citations in multimedia A resident gives a 10-minute presentation on a question raised in previous grand rounds, often with citations and multimedia.  Consultants, residents and visiting providers can provide brief follow up.

 In-Person and Live-Streamed; Biweekly on Wednesday's from 12:00-1:00.

TARGET AUDIENCE
Allied Health Professionals, Physicians, Physician Assistants, Resident Fellows and Students. 

LEARNING OBJECTIVES
Upon completion of this activity, participants should be able to:

  • Recognize the importance of clinical (photographic) correlation with pathology.
  • Describe the morphology of dermatologic disease.
  • Describe a differential diagnosis of rare  and unusual skin conditions presented in person.
  • Outline therapeutic options in specified rare conditions.
  • List a therapeutic ladder of options for patients with exceptional and challenging skin disorders.
