This symposium features evidence-based and cutting-edge diagnostic and treatment strategies for sports-related and musculoskeletal conditions. Expert lectures representing a spectrum of sports medicine fields provide the attendee with multidisciplinary information related to athletic injury evaluation, treatment, prevention, and return to play transition. Multiple educational formats are used, including case presentations, interactive Q&A sessions, as well as live demonstrations of physical examination, anatomy, ultrasound, and arthroscopy.

Target Audience

This CME symposium is designed for physicians, physical therapists, performance/fitness coaches, athletic trainers, chiropractors, and other practitioners who evaluate and treat athletes and other active populations.

Learning Objectives

Upon completion of this activity, participants should be able to:

  • Identify clinically-relevant hand and wrist anatomy, including the relevant joints, tendons, ligaments and cartilage (Domain 2 | Tasks 0201, 0202)
  • Describe essential physical exam maneuvers in the evaluation of hand wrist conditions in the athlete (Domain 2 | Tasks 0202, 0204)
  • Summarize the key elements of rehabilitation and return to play considerations following ulnar wrist pain (Domain 4 | Tasks 0401, 0406)
  • List risk factors for Triangular Fibrocartilage Complex (TFCC) injuries (Domain 2 | Tasks 0201, 0204)
  • Summarize the benefits and limitations of ultrasound guided procedures for hand and wrist disorders (Domain 2 | Tasks 0203, 0204)
  • Identify imaging findings of common hand and wrist injuries (Domain 2 | Tasks 0202, 0203)
  • Describe surgical indications for athletic hand and wrist injuries encountered in the athletic training room (Domain 2 | Tasks 0204)
  • Select strategies to identify who is likely to require operative intervention following ulnar wrist pain (Domain 2 | Tasks 0203, 0204, 0205)
