Upon conclusion of this program, participants should be able to:
- Describe the current controversy around advance care planning.
- Appreciate that goal of care conversations, whether early or late, are principally about prognostic awareness and patient values more so than decision making.
- Recognize that when you have done the early work establishing prognostic awareness, and patient goals and values, later decision making is easier to approach.
