PRESENTERS BIO

Shweta Kapoor, MD, PhD , is a Senior Associate Consultant of Psychiatry at Mayo Clinic, Arizona. She serves as the Associate Director of Psychiatry Clerkship, AZ as well as an Assistant Professor of Psychiatry at the Alix School of Medicine. She also serves as the Diversity Leader for the department. Dr. Kapoor additionally serves on the Diversity, Inclusion, and Social Justice Subcommittee at Emory School of Medicine Psychiatry as well as a research consultant for The Menninger Clinic. Her areas of expertise are trauma-informed care, complex trauma, psychiatric oncology, women’s mental health, health disparities, chronic pain, trauma-informed care, suicidality, and feminist psychotherapy. Dr. Kapoor is married to a chemical engineer and is a mother of two precocious kids. In her free time, she loves to collect books, sleep, tend to her plants, travel, and passionately and frequently writes about social justice and feminist issues. She is passionate about providing trauma-informed treatment to individuals with chronic physical illnesses such as cancer.
