PRESENTER BIO

Felipe Batalini, M.D., is a medical oncologist focused on the treatment of breast and gynecological cancers. He is an Assistant Professor of Oncology in the Mayo Clinic College of Medicine. Dr. Batalini did his Residency in Internal Medical at Boston University Medical Center, and his Fellowship in Hematology and Oncology at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center, at Harvard Medical School. He is a member of the American Society of Clinical Oncology (ASCO) and American Association for Cancer Research (AACR). Dr. Batalini is a reviewer of the most prominent oncology journals and leads research in the fields of genetics and genomics, with expertise on precision oncology, liquid biopsies, DNA damage and repair, and the development of new treatments for cancer patients.

Dr. Batalini’s clinical and research focus includes:

  • Precision medicine: identifying genetic alterations unique to each patient to guide treatment choices or clinical trial participation.
  • Liquid biopsies: studies the incorporation of new technologies to individualize care and bring research findings to patient care.
  • DNA damage and repair: development of genomic biomarkers of homologous recombination repair.
  • Hereditary cancers: expertise on the treatment of patients with strong family history of cancer or carriers of hereditary mutations of cancer risk genes, including BRCA1, BRCA2, and others.
