DESCRIPTION
During Renal Biopsy Conference, microscopic slides of interesting biopsy cases from the previous week are interpreted by fellows while teaching points are highlighted by faculty in Pathology and Nephrology/Hypertension.  Case management and patient morbidity are also reviewed.  Every quarter, a video-conference is scheduled with our colleagues at Mayo Clinic Florida to review their cases.

TARGET AUDIENCE
The audience is primarily the physicians in our division, but all members of the division, i.e. nurses, NP/PAs and allied health staff are encouraged to attend.  We advertise the Grand Rounds title and speaker name throughout the institution which allows other areas/divisions to attend if they wish.

LEARNING OBJECTIVES
Upon completion of this activity, participants should be able to:

  • Diagnose various kidney diseases based on biopsy findings
  • Debate optimal treatment options in the context of biopsy findings
  • Distinguish among the different morphologic features of kidney disease by reviewing biopsy specimens with clinicians and renal pathologists
