DESCRIPTION
The Quality Forum is dedicated to promoting patient and staff safety while enhancing healthcare quality for both patient and caregiver. Topics will surface learnings from real Mayo Clinic event reports, patient experience, and quality improvement initiatives. This activity will connect Culture of Safety with the attributes of highly reliable organizations (HROs) using language that enables all staff levels to interact with Mayo Clinic as a learning health system.

TARGET AUDIENCE
The target audience is multidisciplinary consisting of allied health professionals, healthcare executives, nurses, nurse practitioners, pharmacy technicians, physicians, physician assistants, social workers, and students. 

LEARNING OBJECTIVES
Upon completion of this activity, participants should be able to:
  • Identify the main principles that are crucial for organizations that consistently keep patients safe and continuously improve.
  • Identify concepts important to improvement activities targeting patient and staff safety, and healthcare quality.
  • Analyze Culture of Safety and Quality methodologies used within quality Improvement activities.
  • Demonstrate intradisciplinary communication to foster a transparent patient and staff safety culture across multiple healthcare disciplines.
