DESCRIPTION
This weekly conference series is designed to improve the practice of pulmonary, critical care, and sleep medicine, covering a broad range of topics relevant to these subspecialties and their delivery.  The target audience for this activity is the interprofessional care team, including physicians of these disciplines, nurse practitioners, physician assistants, nurses, respiratory therapists, and certified pulmonary function and sleep technicians. The conferences are delivered in a variety of formats, including didactic presentations, case-based and expert panel discussions, simulation demonstrations, and interactive workshops on a variety of topics including patient safety, quality improvement, teamwork, and communication.

In-Person and Live-Streamed; Weekly on Friday's from 12:15-1:00 p.m.

TARGET AUDIENCE
Allied Health Professionals, Nurses, Nurse Practitioners, Physicians, Physician Assistants, Resident Fellows, Students, Respiratory Therapists, Pulmonary Function and Sleep Technicians. 

LEARNING OBJECTIVES
Upon completion of this activity, participants should be able to:

  • Identify common institutional strategies to investigate and address safety and quality issues raised by our community.
  • Discuss within the interprofessional team during daily clinical activities.
  • Demonstrate the use of common, emerging medical education concepts within the clinical learning environment.
  • Debate common controversies in the practice of pulmonary, critical care, and sleep medicine within clinic.
  • Review ongoing educational research efforts within the division of pulmonary, critical care, and sleep medicine.
  • Recognize the basic genetic underpinnings of diseases affecting patients with pulmonary critical care and/or sleep disorders.
  • Debate the opportunity for inter-disciplinary and cross-specialty research interactions relevant to pulmonary, critical care and sleep disorders.
  • Recognize the physiologic basis for emerging diagnostic and therapeutic modalities used in pulmonary, critical care, and sleep medicine.

Maintenance of Certification - American Board of Internal Medicine (ABIM)
Successful completion of this CME activity, which includes participation in the evaluation component, enables the participant to earn up to 0.75 medical knowledge MOC points in the American Board of Internal Medicine's (ABIM) Maintenance of Certification (MOC) program. Participants will earn MOC points equivalent to the amount of CME credits claimed for the activity. It is the CME activity provider's responsibility to submit participant completion information to ACCME for the purpose of granting ABIM MOC credit.
