Frontiers in Addiction provides an update on the assessment and treatment of substance use disorders, with a focus on recent advancements in evidence-based approaches. It covers topics such as assessment techniques, emerging laboratory investigations, and innovative psychosocial and pharmacological interventions for alcohol and drug use disorders across various populations. Additionally, the course examines the role of comorbid psychopathology in addiction recovery and explores models for integrating psychological and psychiatric care into primary and post-primary treatment settings.
Target Audience
This course is designed for psychiatrists, psychologists, social workers, licensed alcohol and drug counselors, as well as physicians and advanced practice providers in the areas of family medicine and internal medicine.
Learning Objectives
Upon completion of this activity, participants should be able to:
- Review the latest advancements in etiological underpinnings and personalized treatment of addictive disorders.
- Recognize comorbid medical and physical consequences of chronic substance use.
- Evaluate appropriate treatment options for individuals with chronic pain, chronic opioid use, and substance use disorders.
