LEARNING OBJECTIVES
Upon conclusion of this activity, participants should be able to:

  • Assess the Chicago Classification of EMD including the sub-classification of achalasia and related syndromes.
  • Recognize the advantages and disadvantages of pneumatic dilation, per oral endoscopic myotomy (POEM) and laparoscopic Heller myotomy for treating achalasia.
  • Identify the overlap between esophageal spasm and achalasia in high-resolution manometry.
