Updates in Pediatric Palliative Care - April 30, 2025
Updates in Pediatric Palliative Care is a specialized course targeting interdisciplinary providers who care for children with life-threatening and life-limiting illness. Experts from Mayo Clinic Children’s Center and national leaders in pediatric palliative care will present clinical pearls for primary and subspecialty providers seeking additional education in pediatric palliative care.
Target Audience
Targeted clinician specialties (MD, NP, PA-C) including clinicians from general internal medicine, family medicine, hospital medicine, oncology, hospice and palliative care, critical care, geriatrics, nephrology and cardiology.
Learning Objectives
Upon completion of this activity, participants should be able to:
- Give examples on discussing prognosis of patients’ experiencing serious life-limiting illness.
- Review new pharmacologic and nonpharmacologic management options available to palliate common symptoms associated with serious life-limiting illness.
- Assess psychosocial suffering associated with serious life-limiting illness in collaboration with an interdisciplinary team.
- Summarize risk factors associated with decreased or insufficient goal concordant care at end of life.
- Identify demographic, psychosocial, and racial factors that are associated with decreased access to effective hospice and palliative care.
