Anne Nelson, O.T.R./L, O.T.D., SCFES

Anne entered occupational therapy practice in 2016 with a master’s in occupational therapy from Saint Catherine University.  She worked in a rural Wisconsin setting for two years where she worked with a wide range of inpatient and outpatient clients.  In 2018, Anne joined Mayo Clinic through the OT dysphagia fellowship and subsequently achieved specialty certification in feeding, eating, and swallowing through the American Occupational Therapy Association.  Since completing the dysphagia fellowship in 2019, she has worked on the Brain/Spine and Mental Health OT teams including ICU care, dysphagia, inpatient neurologic rehabilitation, and the adult PRC program. Anne entered the biofeedback practice in 2022 and has a special interest in addressing persistent and challenging eating, feeding, and swallowing issues that are complicated or caused by pain, functional disorders, GI dysfunction, or stress and tension-related dysfunction.  In December, Anne completed a clinical doctorate in occupational therapy at Rocky Mountain University of Health Professions with an emphasis in education.  Anne’s doctoral capstone research was a grounded theory study on developing therapeutic relationships to address mental health in acute medical settings.  Her strongest professional interests are at the intersections of mental health and medical conditions.  Anne aims to pursue more qualitative research opportunities to expand the literature on how patients experience biofeedback treatment related to eating.
