Bio:

Dr.  Edwin has been a member of the Mayo Clinic staff since 1996.   He serves as a consultant at the Division of Palliative Medicine at Mayo Clinic in Arizona.    He completed his medical school training at McGill University in Montreal followed by a residency in internal medicine at Mayo Clinic in Rochester.   The following year, Dr. Edwin worked as the chief resident in internal medicine at Mayo Clinic in Arizona.  Upon joining the clinic, Dr. Edwin worked as a hospitalist until 2005 when he joined Dr. Tom Fitch in the development of the Center for Palliative Medicine.     He now works exclusively within palliative medicine.  

 He is the founding chair for the Center for Humanities in Medicine as well as the founding chair for the Ethics Consultation Service at Mayo Clinic Arizona.    He served as the program director for the transitional year residency and subsequently the palliative medicine fellowship program.   He currently serves as the chair for the division of palliative medicine. 

On a personal level, Dr. Edwin is father of two young adults, both of whom are interested in pursuing careers in medicine and have significantly depleted his saving while they pursue their college and graduate degrees.
