DESCRIPTION
Fellows and consultants collaborate to present an unusual or controversial case seen in clinic or at the hospital. This case is related to the topic and through interactive discussion, the audience concludes the correct diagnosis or management plan. At the end of the case presentation, the fellow concludes with a brief, practical review of the topic.
TARGET AUDIENCE
The audience is primarily the physicians in our division, but all members of the division, i.e. nurses, NP/PAs and allied health staff are encouraged to attend. We advertise the Grand Rounds title and speaker name throughout the institution which allows other areas/divisions to attend if they wish.
LEARNING OBJECTIVES
Upon completion of this activity, participants should be able to:
- Identify how to apply skills to clinical practice.
- Identify how to avoid common mistakes and pitfalls.
- Debate recent literature and new scientific advances in the fields of Nephrology and Hypertension.
- Define fundamental concepts of electrolyte, fluid and acid-base regulations.
