Learning Objectives
Upon conclusion of this activity, participants should be able to:
1. Empathize with some of the post-surgical challenges faced by their patients going through the process of orthognathic surgery.
2. Describe to their patients why in some cases orthognathic surgery is necessary as opposed to isolated orthodontic treatment of dental malocclusion.
3. Differentiate between the goals of orthognathic surgery for isolated dento-occlusal discrepancies, and the goals of using orthognathic techniques for the patient with sleep disordered breathing/OSA.
