Dr. Elisabeth Riviello is an Assistant Professor of Medicine at Harvard Medical School and an Attending Physician in the Pulmonary, Critical Care and Sleep Medicine Division at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center in Boston, MA, USA.

She obtained her undergraduate degree from Harvard University in 1995, her Medical Degree from Vanderbilt University in 2006, and her Masters in Public Health from Harvard University in 2013. She completed a residency in Internal Medicine and Global Health Equity at Brigham and Women’s Hospital in 2011, and her fellowship in Pulmonary and Critical Care Medicine in the Harvard combined program in 2014.

Dr. Riviello is passionate about improving critical care for patients in resource constrained settings. Her research is focused on ARDS, sepsis, and mortality prediction in low-income countries. She has a particular interest in examining how context impacts critical care epidemiology, interventions and outcomes. Her medical education activities include critical care curriculum development for resource constrained settings as well as mentorship of US trainees interested in pursuing global health careers. She is currently the PI for BREATHE, a clinical effectiveness trial of high flow versus standard flow oxygen for hypoxemic adults at five sites in Kenya, Malawi, and Rwanda.
