INTRODUCTION

Dr. Vanessa Dang is a fourth year psychiatry resident at Mayo Clinic. She will be starting a consultation-liaison fellowship at Mayo in July, and is interested in the overlap of CL psychiatry, palliative care, and intensive care.

Does Pharmacogenomic Testing Affect Clinical Decision Making in Psychiatry for Poor and Ultrarapid Metabolizers of Cytochrome P-450 2D6 and 2C19 in Minority Populations? – A Retrospective Review

Yuliang Hu, B.Med

INTRODUCTION

Dr. Yuliang Hu was born in Beijing and completed her medical school at Shanghai Jiaotong University School of Medicine. She received training at Shanghai Mental Health Center and at University of Strasbourg before starting her residency at Mayo Clinic. During her residency, she participated in research projects on bipolar disorder, Ketamine, TMS, and pharmacogenomic testing. She is accepted to the forensic psychiatry program at University of Michigan for fellowship training.

LEARNING OBJECTIVES

Upon conclusion of this activity, participants should be able to:

  • Review current evidence and controversy in the use of pharmacogenetic testing in psychiatry

  • Describe findings from our retrospective review on pharmacogenetic testing at Mayo Clinic
