TITLE:  Anyone, Anything, Anytime - A History of Emergency Medicine

1) Demonstrate expanded knowledge of the history of the development of the specialty of emergency medicine in the US.
2) Compare the social and political factors that shaped the field of emergency medicine with our current factors in US healthcare.
3) Develop new perspectives on their current emergency practice based on the experiences and stories of the early leaders of the field

OVERVIEW:  Dr. Brian J. Zink, Professor of Emergency Medicine at the University of Michigan researched and wrote the first comprehensive history of US emergency medicine by interviewing many of the founders and early leaders of the field and telling their stories in his book: Anyone, Anything, Anytime – a history of emergency medicine. The first edition was published in 2005 and a revised 2nd edition in 2018. He has lectured around the world on the history of emergency medicine. Dr. Zink was the inaugural Chair of the Department of Emergency Medicine at Brown University. He has served as the President of SAEM, President of the Association of Academic Chairs of Emergency Medicine, and is founder and co-Director of the AACEM Chair Development Program. He has mentored hundreds of emergency physicians in his career and currently serves as Senior Associate Dean for Faculty and Faculty Development at the University of Michigan Medical School.
