Title: Postural Hyperpnea
Learning Objectives: Upon completion of this session attendees should be able to:
- Recognize hypocapnic hyperpneic hyperventilation among forms of “Disordered Breathing”
Reinterpret Postural Hyperpnea in the context of “Effort Syndrome”
Demonstrate that Postural Hyperpnea produces hypertensive POTS alleviated by CO2 administration
Differentiate Postural Hyperpnea from voluntary hyperpnea and from panic disorder
Examine whether chronic intermittent ischemic hypoxia may sensitize carotid body chemoreflexes and drive Postural Hyperpnea
