PRESENTER BIO

Nandita Khera, M.D., M.P.H., is an Associate Professor of Medicine in the Mayo Clinic College of Medicine and a Consultant in the Division of Hematology/ Oncology at Mayo Clinic Arizona. She treats patients with hematological malignancies and some solid tumors, especially those needing blood and marrow transplant (BMT). Her research focuses on improving the delivery of care to patients with cancer to help them be better prepared for the psychosocial and financial consequences of the treatment. Dr. Khera has published several papers on outcomes, late effects, and quality of care in cancer patients and provides mentorship to trainees interested in projects in these areas. She teaches classes as part of the high value cost conscious care curriculum at Mayo medical school and is faculty at large in the Science of Health Care Delivery (SHCD) Curriculum Subcommittee under academic affairs. She has held leadership positions in the various committees and organizations/societies in hematology and BMT. She is the Associate Chair for Digital Transformation and Practice Integration in DOM and works closely with stakeholders including CDH to improve the digital footprint of DOM. She has recently been appointed the chair of mortality review committee at MCA in this role, she will work closely with leadership for Quality at MCA and enterprise.

  • Review national benchmarks and trends in end-of-life care.
  • Identify challenges in providing high quality end-of-life care.
  • Summarize ongoing efforts to improve care at end-of-life. 
  • Identify opportunities to partner with Palliative Care and other stakeholders to improve the quality of palliative and end-of-life care for patients at MCA.
