LEARNING OBJECTIVES
Upon conclusion of this activity, participants should be able to:

  • Identify a common cause of decreased Hgb in hospitalized patients
  • Evaluate if it is ever appropriate to use sliding scale insulin by itself
  • Discuss if there might be racial bias in pulse oximetry
  • Determine if there are certain dates when patients should not have surgery
  • Compare the risk of delirium following hip surgery under spinal vs general anesthesia
  • Describe the possible complications of midline catheters vs PICC lines
  • Assess the outcomes when giving intraoperative dexamethasone to help PONV
  • Examine the safety of postoperative analgesia with NSAIDs
  • Demonstrate a simple treatment that may decrease nephrotoxicity from IV vancomycin
