Objectives:

At the conclusion of this activity, the learner should be able to:

  1. Recognize the importance of accurate and timely prognostication.
  2. Identify the barriers to effective and timely prognostication in medically complex patients.
  3. Identify some current screening tools that exist for prognostication.
  4. Evaluate the pros and cons of  new machine learning approaches.

 

BIO:

I am a practicing hospitalist. My research has been in the area of big-data and development of prognostic models using EPIC data. Prior to my present station at Mayo Clinic- I conducted research at the University of Minnesota in this area. My work has been published in JGIM, JHIM, Critical Care Med and other journals.
