Objectives:
At the conclusion of this activity, the learner should be able to:
- Recognize the importance of accurate and timely prognostication.
- Identify the barriers to effective and timely prognostication in medically complex patients.
- Identify some current screening tools that exist for prognostication.
- Evaluate the pros and cons of new machine learning approaches.
BIO:
I am a practicing hospitalist. My research has been in the area of big-data and development of prognostic models using EPIC data. Prior to my present station at Mayo Clinic- I conducted research at the University of Minnesota in this area. My work has been published in JGIM, JHIM, Critical Care Med and other journals.
