This three-day, multidisciplinary, interactive course will develops instructors for simulation-based education. Participants acquire the principles of experiential learning, including types of simulation-based education, designing and implementing scenarios, and debriefing strategies.

Learners will have opportunities to develop, implement, and debrief simulation scenarios with the assistance of experienced faculty.

Enrollment is limited to smaller groups to encourage maximum engagement of all attendees

Target Audience

This course is designed for individuals interested or involved in simulation curriculum design, implementation, and facilitation.

Learning Objectives

Learners will:

  • Describe fundamental concepts of simulation-based education (SBE)
  • Describe elements of a well-designed SBE to achieve best learner outcomes
  • Develop and facilitate learner focused simulation scenarios using best practices in SBE
  • Discuss debriefing and goals of debriefing
  • Demonstrate skills required of a debriefing facilitator
  • Discuss challenges and solutions related to healthcare simulations
