DESCRIPTION
This activity is held weekly on Friday, 7 - 8 a.m. in Gonda 2-101 (Mathy Lecture Hall).

This weekly internal conference consists of of clinical and surgical interest related to the practice of breast care and includes hospital-based case discussions. Participation from surgery, pathology, radiology, medical oncology, radiation oncology, plastic surgery, medical genetics and general internal medicine - breast clinic, is solicited in the discussion of interpretation of findings, differential diagnosis and management of breast diseases.

TARGET AUDIENCE
The conference is designed for physicians, residents, fellows, mid-level providers and medical students interested in the study of breast disease.

LEARNING OBJECTIVES
Upon conclusion of the activity, participants should be able to:

  • Identify the common benign and malignant neoplasms of the breast and their management
  • Define the advantages/disadvantages of different imaging modalities of the breast
  • Identify new and upcoming chemotherapy regimens available, including clinical trials, for women with breast cancer
  • Discuss different surgical approaches to patients with benign and malignant breast lesions
  • Identify the different radiotherapy options for patients with breast cancer
  • Recognize genetic testing options and guidelines for breast cancer and high-risk patients
  • Discuss the importance of multidisciplinary approach in the management of patient with benign or malignant breast disease
