DESCRIPTION
This activity occurs weekly on Friday, 12:15 p.m. - 1:00 p.m. in Kern lecture hall unless otherwise noted in the session. Visit the online series if you wish to participate by watching a pre-recorded session instead.

The Neurology subspecialty conference is a weekly conference presented by various subspecialists in a rotating fashion from within Department of Neurology, residents and fellows.  The areas encompassed include sleep, multiple sclerosis/autoimmune neurology, neurologic education, child neurology, speech pathology, neuro-ophthalmology, behavioral neurology, movement disorders, epilepsy, neuro-oncology, muscle disorders and peripheral nervous systems diseases.

TARGET AUDIENCE
This course is intended for physicians, mid-level health care providers, nurses, and medical students.

LEARNING OBJECTIVES
Upon conclusion of this activity, participants will be able to:

  • Identify and implement treatment of migraine and related headache.
  • Review how to correctly segregate multiple sclerosis patients into appropriate treatments.
  • Recognize the differences between different forms of myopathy.
  • Interpret paraneoplastic antibody test results.
  • Describe the molecular pathogenesis of Parkinson's disease.
  • Identify epilepsy patients who are surgical candidates.
  • Recognize how new advances in molecular neurosciences have changed ideas about how the brain works.
  • Identify which patients are eligible for brain tumor protocols.
