This conference provides healthcare professionals with the latest insights on tuberculosis (TB), including screening, diagnosis, and treatment of active TB and latent TB infection (LTBI). Didactic lectures cover pediatric and adult populations, clinical updates, diagnostic advancements, and treatment strategies. Attendees explore cutting-edge research, emerging therapies, and innovative approaches to improve patient adherence and outcomes in TB management.
Target Audience
Allied health professionals, nurses, physicians, residents/fellows, pharmacy technicians, pharmacists, public health and infectious disease MDs, RNs, Pharm.Ds., public health professionals, and laboratory technologists.
Learning Objectives
Upon completion of this course, participants will be able to:
- Identify advanced diagnostic strategies for the detection of Mycobacterium tuberculosis.
- Identify first-line therapy for drug-susceptible tuberculosis.
- Recognize updated tuberculosis treatment regimens.
- Recognize appropriate treatment plans for drug-resistant tuberculosis.
- Recall strategies for managing adverse drug reactions in tuberculosis patients.
- Recognize treatment challenges for tuberculosis patients with comorbidities (e.g., diabetes, HIV).
- Identify unique considerations for children with tuberculosis.
- Calculate the infectious period for patients with active tuberculosis disease.
- List adherence strategies as part of a tuberculosis case management plan.
- Examine mental health challenges associated with tuberculosis.
