Title: Blueprint for Personality Disorders: The Consequences of Early Self- Protection in Infancy
Carol F. Siegel, Ph.D., L.P., is a licensed clinical psychologist in Minneapolis, MN and former faculty member in the Infant and Early Childhood Mental Health Masters Program at the University of Minnesota, Twin Cities. She sees patients and children in her private practice. Her primary clinical focus is parent psychotherapy and issues encountered by parents with complex histories. This may include depression, stress, adoption, foster care, trauma, abuse or neglect. She is trained in clinical hypnosis and integrates stress reduction and hypnotic techniques in her parent work. She is a frequent presenter on issues related to infant mental health and parenting, such as attachment, stress and trauma, parent psychotherapy, and reflective consultation.
Dr. Siegel’s training includes internships at the San Francisco Child Abuse Prevention Center, the Infant Parent Program at the University of California, San Francisco, and McLean Hospital, Harvard Medical School in Belmont, Massachusetts. She is a national consultant to clinical and home-visiting programs and is endorsed by the Minnesota Infant and Early Childhood Mental Health Association as an Infant Mental Health Clinical Mentor (Level IV). In addition, she is a former co-president (2020-2023) of the Minnesota Society of Clinical Hypnosis (MSCH)
Learning Objectives:
Participants will be able to define "adaptions" in early development and the essential role they play in self-protection.
Participants will be able to describe how adaptions affect personality development.
Participants will be able to apply these concepts to case conceptualization in child psychotherapy.
